It is common for a first generation student to feel as if they are progressing all by themselves as they venture through the unknown world of higher education. The Gen1 program encourages its students to take advantage of the support and encouragement offered to them.

On October 21, 2010 the supporters of our Gen1 students were invited to a meeting hosted by a veritable pantheon of Stevenson University staff members. Speakers included: Gen1 Faculty Leader and Associate Professor of Communication Dr. D. M. Greene; University Registrar, Tracy R. Bolt; Psychology Department Chair and Psychology Professor, Dr. Jeff D. Elliott; Assistant Vice President for Experiential Learning and Career Services, Christine A. Noya; Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Amy Spinnato; Manager of the University Store, LaShaun Hubbard; and, Gen1 Senior Intern, Andrew Twigg.
Topics for the meeting ranged from registering for classes to the overall role of the supporters throughout the Gen1 students' journey. The supporters absorbed a plethora of information and were very optimistic towards the progression of the entire Gen1 program.
