Gen1 Newseum Trip

The Newseum
The Gen1 program recently embarked on a field trip to the Newseum located in Washington, DC. on October 15, 2010. There, the students were able to see a vast array of displays and exhibits depicting some of the more historical moments in the realm of journalism and broadcasting.
One of the prime reasons for choosing the Newseum was its ability to broaden the global perspective of the students in the program. The world is very large, and sometimes individuals have a tough time grasping that fact.
Martin Luther King, Jr. got it right when he said, “injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Just because an event takes place on one side of the Earth, does not mean it will not affect the other side. The Newseum does a splendid job of demonstrating the interconnectedness of people across and throughout the world.
“I really enjoyed the wide-range of exhibits they had to offer from around the world,” said Gen1 member, Brittany Clark.
After perusing around the Newseum, the Gen1 students enjoyed a pizza lunch at Union Station before getting back on the bus to head home.
